Snapshots of life at the Crowe’s Nest
Who is Jon?
Born in West Africa, I grew up as the son of missionaries although I finished school with ambitions to be a famous graphic designer, I was challenged by Patrick Johnstone to serve God in fulltime ministry in 1994 at a conference. I joined OM Ships in 1996 and volunteered on the ship Logos II for two years.
Who is Holly?
Born and raised in Southern California, I didn’t have a lot of exposure to missionary life but at age 18 after finishing high school, and feeling like I should do more than go to college just because that’s the next logical step, I heard a lady share her story about how she got involved in missions and it was almost exactly like my life to that point. After hearing her story, I knew this was what I should be doing with my life. I joined OM Ships in 1997 and volunteered on Logos II for two years.
How did we meet?
We met on board Logos II, one of the vessels operated by OM Ships during our respective two years of service. We began dating after a year on board and were engaged 6 months later. After completing our commitments we were married in San Diego in April 1999.
The boys
Zac is the big brother and was born in June of 2001. He is a quick learner who loves ocean creatures, volcanoes and computer games. Gabe and Nate are our twins who were born in March 2003 and have kept us busy ever since. Gabe loves monster trucks and approaches life head on but he has a soft heart and is shy with new people. Nate is our “baby” but is a very entertaining Star Wars expert who is working on mastering the art of using a light saber.
What are we up to now? What’s this float stuff?
We are now working fulltime on board Logos Hope. Jon is responsible for the Communications team on the ship who are tasked with communicating the latest news and information from the ship as well as creating resources for use on the ship and onshore.
