Snapshots of life at the Crowe’s Nest
26 Nov
Our day at anchor turned out to be eight days at anchor.
But we are THANKFUL that we got to have one last weekend open to the public during our time in Barbados.
While we were not able to open to the public at anchor, we were able to send teams of ship’s crew on shore via lifeboats.
We are THANKFUL for all the opportunities they had and for many lives that were changed for eternity.
We have not had a regular fresh off ship water supply for several weeks and had very limited onboard supply for several days.
We are THANKFUL to have water this week and that our 30 second showers have been upgraded to 1 minute showers.
Ship life is often intense and can really wear you out with all the demand and opportunities and being around people all the time.
We are THANKFUL for last week that was spent as a “Sabbath Week” for the ship’s company where we were able to take some time off, get some good teaching, and spend time in prayer.
Our voyage from St. Lucia to Guyana was a rough two day journey where the stabilizers were not working properly.
We are SO THANKFUL that we are now in port, and the ship is not moving. (More than half the ship was struck with seasickness, including Jon and myself)
We are now in Guyana where we can easily be exposed to Malaria.
We are THANKFUL for the malaria tablets that we can take and that none of us have had any side effects…YET.
As we look out around us, we realize how much of the world is living in poverty everyday.
We are THANKFUL to have three meals a day, a bed to sleep in and more than enough clothes to fill a cupboard.
There are so many practical needs here in Guyana, so many!
We are THANKFUL that we as a ship’s company can take the opportunity to go on shore and do “HELP” ministry. Half of the ship’s people will be living on shore and doing projects, building, dental clinic, medical clinics, working with local churches in outreach, doing kids ministry, whatever is needed.
I (Holly) have been asked to be a part of one of the teams going out this week (Sat. – Wed.) to help in a dental clinic and to share the good news with people.
I am THANKFUL for this opportunity and hope I don’t faint at the sight of blood!
And of course we are so thankful to have family and friends around the world involved in this ministry with us. THANK YOU for your prayers, financial support and encouragement!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His mercy endures forever.
